Skinny Baked Mozzarella Sticks

I tend to make a lot of snack food on Sunday afternoons because CJ and I do a lot of puttering and snacking. Here is a recent snack I made. SO yummy!!! You can see the homemade marinara sauce to go with these here. Also, who doesn’t love mozzarella sticks??

  • 12 sticks part-skim mozzarella string cheese
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 2 tsp Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbs flour
  • 5 tbs breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • olive oil cooking spray

Step 1: Cut cheese in halves and freeze

Step 2: Whisk the egg in one bowl and set aside. Place flour in another bowl and set aside. In a third bowl combine the bread crumbs, parsley and Parmesan cheese.

Step 3: Dip the frozen sick in the flour to coat, then into the egg to coat and lastly into the breadcrumb mix. Repeat for each stick.

Step 4: Place each stick on baking sheet with foil.

Step 5: Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees. Once all sticks are covered and ready, spray lightly with cooking spray and back 4 to 5 minutes. Turn and bake an additional 4-5 minutes.
